I don't know, but he might have been a child or grandchild of the original Benji. There were a whole bunch with similar names like Ben-jean for a girl dog, etc.

I'm man enough to admit that I had a toy Benji as a child (though I think mine was from 1975-ish) I always wanted a dog as a kid, but there were no pets allowed in our building, so the toy was my "best friend." Never had to use a scooper either

For some reason I really liked Benji when I was a little kid and I ended up getting that very Dakin Benji at Christmas back then.

I grew up on Lassie but saw most all of the 70's Benji movies. I would have loved that Dakin Benji. Now off to Ebay to find one.

Tim, make sure you get the larger one with the metal name tag. If you look at the picture above, you can see that it's a pretty good sized stuff Benji.
