In this day and age of repro toys, I'm surprised nobody has reproduced this playset, or the three cardboard Marx JohnnyWest/Knights-Vikings playsets....wouldnt be too hard to pull off I would think?

by the way, the Plaidstallions article mentions SIO toys. I'll have to do some digging around to confirm this, but I believe SIO was either the Spanish/Italian arm of Marx toys, or an independant manufacturer from that region who had a license to produce Marx items.

That playset the article mentioned is a bit of a rarity amongst Marx collectors...not just due to is actually being rare, but because they didnt re-use it for their Ready Gang toy line....Instead, a much more detailed and larger playset was constructed. This may be due to the possibility that Gabriel, hubley, or somebody else actually designed the set, and Marx only produced it (as was the case with the Lone Ranger line itself).
Personally, I'm glad the Ready Gang did get their own playset....Just the saloon itself was a work of art!

As i feared it's way to big to use in displaying my LR collection due to lack of space to place it in my toyroom

Couldn't you undo the snaps holding it together and maybe set the halves on seperate shelves and put you LR figures in front of the buildings? Or is the town also too tall to fit into the space on the shelves? I suppose it'd be too deep too?

This is why i never went after the playsets plus i trend to display my figures in custom/repo boxes as they look good on display and also protects them, I was going to do the same with my LR figures until i got the horses and they take up a lot of space when the figures are mounted on them but they look really cool on the horses to nice to box up so i wanted to make a really nice display for them , i can rule out Carson city

Spockfan, just FYI, the Carson City playset can be divided in half; it's 1.5 feet in length if you set up only one half of the full display.

Thanks for the info as i was unaware of this as all the photos i've swwn has them joined so it might work by spliting them and using the top of two bookcases

I'm pretty sure each half is 2.5 feet long, not just 1.5
