    1978 plus Remco Equals Spiderman!

In 1978, Remco, a division of Azrak Hamway International, figured out a way to get in on the Superhero action figure business long held onto by their rivals at Mego.

Energized Spiderman was more statue than action figure (most likely due to licensing restrictions) but he was a giant hit in 1978 and the line was greatly expanded in the following year..

The rest of the line up was strongly superhero based, even Micky Mouse looks like he can some ***, the sole girl's offering this year is also a person with powers.click on the images for pages with descriptions:

That's the Star Trek belt set I had. I'm glad you posted it. I was trying to remember it but had no idea who made it.

The only Remco toys in my collection are the singing Mimi doll and the Sweet April doll. But those utility belts are cool.

I had a lot of fun with the Energized Spidey. Even though he couldn't move, he was still a lot of fun. I got him for one Christmas, and Energized Supes, Bats and Hulk for the next.

I had the Spidey Utility belt, just as pictured. The comic drawings in the Heroes World ads always showed it with a Spidey-face belt buckle. Was it ever made this way? That's much more comic accurate, mimicing his spider-light buckle. I always passed on the Batman one because it just didn't look authentic enough. Batman is no redneck who needs to look at his belt to remember his name.

I noticed the Jeanie fashion drawings show her with red hair, like the 70s Hanna Barbera cartoon. Wonder why the doll is blonde like the original live-action Barbar Eden version?

That Mickey Mouse ranch playset is just...baffling. Disney had a very loose licensing dept back then. I mean...why? Popye would make perfect sense. For Disney, even Donald Duck works better. Donald Duck Anger Management Camp playset. There!
