You're right...it's a sickness with no easy cure.

    My advice?

KILL your brain trying to figure out ANYthing
you could live without and GET RID OF IT.

Even if you're breaking a collection/toy line up.

Not EVERY thing you collect has to be the complete set

The kids more than the getting married did that for me, when we had two incomes and no children, I had entirely too much disposable income.

When we were DINC, it was more a matter of limited space than limited finances. Now it's both!

I'm primarily Sticking with MEGOs but it isn't easy. I usually find myself eyeing other Toy Lines and then I start thinking where I would put them. Luckily I get back to reality. It's just so addictive collecting. I'm never gonna be Cured, LOL

I sometimes feel like this too between Mego stuff, Remco Stuff, G.i.Joe: RAH, Indiana Jones Stuff, Mcdonaldland, Super Powers, Secret Wars, Sports cards, Non sports cards, Comics, The list goes on and on and on..............Sometimes it gets discouraging because you think of how much time it will take to really get everything you want. I'll have to take pics of my stuff and post it in the Toyroom chat soon.

and I am just the opposite in dreading just how long it will take to really slim my collection of everything down and get some space back in my house and funds back in my wallet

I stick primarily with Mego, although do dabble in 12" GI Joe. It's all about the toys I loved as a kid....but Mego's were always my favorite. I had a lot of Star Wars but most of it is too big to put on display unless you live in a mansion....so I sold almost all of my vintage and modern collection off in the past few years and now just concentrate on Mego. I don't like my house looking cluttered....it makes me crazy and then I go on a cleaning binge and start getting rid of stuff. So many toys and so little space. I would have like to collect the Indiana Jones line but have no place to put them....instead I collect them vicariously through my son....who i bought almost every figure for to play with

I'd agree. My wife was hip to the collecting (though wanted it out of the living room dinning room kitchen and bathroom)
the drain on income is one thing with the kids but add the space they take up and the rooms i was banished to shrunk.

so - if you haven't done it yet - get married and have kids. make sure to sign a prenup - you know those women are all after your action figures.

Too many comics, i collect comic art and animation art and Mego's and marvel legends and DC figures. not to mention things like music Cd's and DVD's of movies and TV shows and Doctor Who items. i need a wife just to get realistic about what to spend! But i must scare them all away with my interests. Congrtas to all you guys who have a good woman who tolerates/helps in your collections and makes a home with you. believe me You're BLESSED!

I need to remember that when I go to buy yet more stuff for my way overcrowded toy collection.

While my wife will always complain about my 3-4 day painting sessions on the dining room table, she really doesn't give me too much flack about my stuff. She definately isn't a collector though. She'll buy stuff and when it's done it's done. the only thing I see her collect is bathroom stuff. She has like 6 or 7 different sets that she switches every 6 weeks or so. Rubber ducks, Dogs, sun & moon, etc. I mean everything, toothbrush holders, shower curtains, curtain hooks, soap holder, dixie cups, rug. curtains, the whole enchilada. That has changed a bit with the new all glass surrounded set up we put in before the holidays. No more shower curtains made the other selections a little less animated and more conventional.
It's not a doll it's an action figure.
