    Help Id'ing a toy from the 70's I wish I had again.

    Hi there

Let's see very early 80's. We were living abroad and my dad sent us our Christmas presents from stateside.

It was a huge (pretty big at the least...was huge when I was little) aircraft carrier with spongy type jets that were able to be launched off of the ship with some sort of rubber band mechanism. Entirely made of plastic...and of course those planes never really flew all that well.

And DEFINITELY not the GiJoe aircraft carrier..that one is way cooler.

I've been searching and searching just can't remember the company (was it ideal?) or the name of the carrier.

    Any help greatly appreciated.

That might be them! except that's the "portable" version. The one I had was a full aircraft carrier...but I believe FLying Aces was the "name". Gonna look it up.

I'm going to keep a lookout but those definitely look like the planes. I do seem to remember they had that portable launcher...I may have even had it...included with the ship.

I seem to remember launching them onto my brother's head

but definitely a large aircraft carrier.

What company made them I wonder?

Yeah there is an aircraft carrier version, I lifted this from an earlier thread:

The carrier you are looking for is a 1975 Mattle Model#9375, Attack Carrier Flag Ship w/2 flying ace planes. The catapolt works off of rubber bands and the planes do fly. My brother has one in the original box, only opened and looked at never assembled or played with, all pieces including the 2 Corsair planes, decals, everything still wrapped in original packaging. He got it for Christmas in 1975 and just decided to save it and has had it ever since.
I can probably track down an image of it.

I had that AC carrier version. It was styrofoam with a plastic top for the launcher part of it. And yeah, I remember it sucking pretty bad in the launch dept. If eventually was sunk by my Mattel Godzilla.
