Put an Ape on your shirt

I was handed this project by a Ape fan that wanted a printout of his 2 1970's Planet Of The Apes T Shirt Iron ons without having to iron them onto anything.

I thought I would be able to use a shine through light lid to get the image but that didn't work. I ended up scanning the backs of the patches and working them up to get the black line art (some of which was covered with translucient color on the back) and recoloring them (after flipping them out of their backwards state, of course).

Thought that the Ape fans here would like to see the result and others would just get a kick out of the 1970's look of the art (still some work to do on these but they are basically done).

Wow. Very cool! I just found some kind of chemical that I may be able to use for this! I'm going to try it out and let you know how it goes. Was that my buddy Chris H that needed that done?

Chris Height is the one. What do you mean you found a chemical?

I can't remember the name. I can use it on laserprinted images and you swab this chemical on top of it a bunch of times. Let it dry. Then, you trim the image and soak it in water and wipe off the excess paper, leaving you a film of your image. Then, you let the image dry flat and then you put this chemical onto the back of the image and "paste" it onto cloth. Haven't tried it yet, but bought it because it sounded like I could use something like this for more apes on my shirts. And....I've got TONS of ape photo references. I love to collect digital images of anything ape-related.

Judging from those colours, a very groovy chemical....

Oh, you want to find a way to transfer image to cloth

Yes. I think this chemical will allow me to do that, but haven't tried it out yet. It's supposedly washable too once you glue the fabric onto cloth.

American Ringer.com has these images too. You could always use iron-on paper. I have the stretchy kind and I think I'm gonna try it. Thanks Mike!

Or have someone like me print the image directly on the t-shirt.
