    Are some vintage toy commercials...odd?

If you grew up in the 70's there was a very good chance that you owned or knew friends that had Big Jim and his buddies (like Big Josh). Somehow I don't think they would fly in today's market. Check out this vintage commercial -There's just something...well...

I used to go into this hipster video store back in college, one day I walked by and they had a GI Joe giving a Big Josh a spanking in the window.

It was a more innocent time and I think we're all better for it.

Hmmm...teaching kids that someone new and different than you can be your friend? That is just SO wrong!

      Gimme a break!

True art can be seen on many levels. Some see two competitive He-men competing themselves into a he-friendship. Others see foreplay.

What do I see? Some rockin' 1970's action figures I wish I had.

I was there through the "innocent times", but it doesn't erase the humor in the commercial. Some toy commercials remain fun to watch to this day (Take for instance the GI Joe Adventure Team adventures). At any rate, their old and, nostalgia or not, I think it's healthy to laugh at the dated qualities. We're not looking at an old family portrait here, just an old toy commercial.

I think I'm more concerned about Big Josh running into the clearing holding the axe over his head. It's like the start of a slasher flick. lol
                    It's all good!

                      Hmmmm.... y'know, you're right.

Maybe it's me, but I didn't see what the poster was trying to get at. But I DID see a lot of 70's cheese.

                      ....lots of cheese....

I was always a huge Big Jim fan during this time.
By the time PACK came out I was already too old.

The early Jim line was my line and it was fantastic.

I see nothing wrong with it.
Anybody who makes fun of it must have never had any friends.

The only thing odd about that commercial is their way of getting acquainted.
Those feats of strength are a Festivus ritual if there ever was one.
Of course, if I was Big Jim, I know I would have shot him immediately,
not invited him to a urinating contest.
