man, this makes me feel bad.....collecting and paying so much money for some measly plastic jammed into packaging by underpaid factory workers.....

please, they probably did pretty well back then. feel bad for those workers who no doubt were outsourced by now. kind of amazing to see british mums assembling Millenium Falcons. Talk about vanishing manufacturing jobs.

        cool video!

well, i suppose i'm assuming that factory worker don't do so well, in general.
i guess i'm raining on the parade.....i really WANTED to feel only toy geek feelings when watching the vid, but my social justice/ecological sanity voices got louder than my collector voice

Hey, that was very interesting and pretty darn cool to watch! Thanks for sharing!

I watched it and those workers didn't look like they were being treated badly. It's a job in a factory. Those are never glamorous. However, as Scott mentioned, these persons probably did pretty well for themselves back then. Today, in the countries that the same type of toys are manufactured and assembled in, the workers probably aren't doing nearly as well.

Nayrbgo, I don't quite understand why your "social justice/ecological sanity" voices are going off in your head. Maybe too many people have become hypersensitive in our "Polictically Correct" world.

Thanks for sharing that was very cool to watch!

I loved the dramatic slow-mo moment of the little kid taking the figure off the hook.

Seeing that toy store really took me back to how the shelves looked when I was a wee one.

i think that the video of the factory workers just spoke to me in a way that i wasn't expecting it to. i am such a collector geek that one would think i would leave my politics at the door, but it didn't happen this time. i don't think i'm hypersensitive, though i do recognize that as a pitfall. i think i was most struck by how once this toy gets to the shelf it has such a different value and meaning than when it begins as a lump of nothing in a factory. i think i just read that, in this instance, as a nutty concept....a strange feature of human life that has in the last half century has taken on larger-than-life proportions. and it's such a short time compared to human existence on the planet. it just boggles my mind today.

they just don't make action figures like used too.
if you are offended by the palitoy factory you better not watch the lily ledy factory video.

This must've been an assembly facility in the UK, yes? The toys were still manufactured in Asia?
