    $1 Baby Market find

Wife and I took a stall at a Baby & Kids Market last weekend, and not only was it a great way to turn 5 years worth of kid's clothes into a few hundred bucks, there was something for Daddy on the stall next door....

As I casually asked the seller "How much for the shark?" I was thinking $10 but hoping for $5, out came "How does $1 sound?" :-) Thats US$0.64c at the moment to get technical, or 44p for our British viewers.

See? Having kids does pay off!! Always wanted one of these, mainly for the box art I must admit but hey I ain't complaining.

    Cheers,
    Will

PS - Anyone got a link to the complete contents of the Ideal Jaws? As a kid I can only recall white pieces inside.

Oh yes!! I had this and he ate a few megos along the way, and star wars figs as well. Cool he even has the extras. Was he boxed too?? Nice find.

Mine had blue pieces. They may have come in different colors? The only white piece I remember was a skull but may have been a large bone as well?
I actually found this new in the store a few years back repackaged and renamed but I can't recall the company or the proper name. I want to say Marx but I thought they went out of business and the name had nothing to do with JAWS, it was Sharky or Shark something. Exact same game as the original. Unfortunately my kids busted it up and it hit the trash bin years ago. It was cheap too. I think $5.

Oh, now that I see you posted a picture (I can't view some pics at work)...You have more than one set there. There were no duplicates of any pieces as far as I remember.

That is great! Another piece of my childhood that I have yet to replace.

I had that when I was a kid. I wonder what I ever did with it? Discuss.

Didn't get a box with the $1 Jaws unfortunately, but I'm interested to hear that there might be a couple of sets there.

Where is our resident Jaws guru when you need him??

                  Cheers!

Is it marked anywhere (bottom?) with the manufacturer name?
Like I said, this was reissued a few years ago by another company. It was identical to the original in every other way. You may have the newer one. Not that it makes any difference in playing it. Still works the same.

I could be mistaken, but I think the reissue was produced in a blue color. I believe that you have the original because I remember that a friend of mine bought this game but hated the new color. I took the teeth out and spray painted it with primer gray to give it a more original look. I think it was remade in the mid-90's. No matter which version it is, it's still a great find for the price. Congrats!!

You could be right on the color. I hadn't seen an original since mine from the 70's so a slight color change might have slipped by me. It was definitely the same molds and all though. Same pieces, same hooks, etc. And yes, still a fun game. I wish I still had the reissue one but like I said, the kids busted it.

Yes it was and for some reason I always want to attribute it to Marx but I have seen boxes on ebay and they are definitely marked Ideal.
