Anybody know why the Smurfs figures aren't officially sold in US stores?

TRU and Target carries all the other Schleich lines (Knights, animals, Elves, etc.) at their brick and mortar stores but only sell the Smurfs online as imports. The only brick and mortor stores that seem to actually carry them are smaller independant stores.

Schleich's US website makes no mention of them either.

The only Smurf toys that are officially sold in the US are the 50th anniversary plush Smurfs by Play Along/Jakks Pacific. But the regular figures and playsets are not. Weird.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

      I smurf therefore I am.

      Do I collect Smurfs?

Well, here's some pics of my village. The rest are in storage awaiting more space.

As for resources... mushroomvillage.com (formally eSmurfs.com) is the best. Forums: Smurfs At The Smurf Community - Blue Cavern

Why no Smurfs in US stores? Beats me. And it beats every US Smurf collector. Some mom and pop shops still carry the new releases. I found one such place in Sarasota. Still, with the talks of a live action/CGI Smurf movie in the works (ala Chipmunks) I'm hoping this changes.

Yes, I've outed myself as a Smurfer. You may point and laugh.

That is an awesome collection! Thank you so much for posting pictures of it!

I've been to Mushroom village and Blue Imps. Great sites. Checked out Blue Buddies too. Lots of info at BB but you are assulted by pop-ups and ads.

I picked up the Halloween Smurfs for my kids. They love them. I have all my originals, but I don't buy any as an adult. My kids play with them quite a bit, though.

On my last Diamond Comics order I ordered a small counter display with 100 Smurfs so I'll be sure to post some information once I get it. I've actually seen them for sale from Diamond a few times so apparently new figures are being released.

100 different ones? All new? That'd be a cool purchase.
If you can please show 'em off, give info etc.

On the contrary...I am grateful for your SMURF posting.

                Your collection is awesome.

I love all the pics but that GARAGAMEL castle (whatever it's constructed of)
                is absolutely awesome.

Actually the whole "ground" of the village is a great
aspect of the setup. The water areas---and all the other details
make the display perfect----and now I feel like if I ever had
my own Smurf setup I'd want something like your "ground" or it
                wouldn't even be worth it

No, I don't think it will be 100 different designs. I'll be sure to post pics and info when I have them in hand.

I wouldn't mind getting some smurfs ... and remake that famous Mego Twisted Theater from Toy Fare.

                            What the Smurf?
Wow, those are some smurftacular collections!
Personally I find them a bit smurfitating but I have two smurfy stories about them.
Back in the late 80's they had a SmurfBerry Crunch cereal. I had a friend (in his late 20's at the time) who would sit down on Saturday mornings and watch the Smurfs while eating this cereal. Of course this involved endless ribbing on my part.
                            Second little story:
In the early 80's an aunt of mine "found religion" and of course that meant a lot of things that we had done for years was now "bad". Her kids were not allowed to watch the Smurfs because, and this is a quote, "They are little blue demons".
