    Botany Brothers

The Turtle Neck/Jacket combination is a little something I like to call the "Botany 500" look, named after the men's clothing label that provided wardrobe to many seventies celebs such as Merv Griffen. Just about every thug who chased Cannon (I guess you just had to walk fast) or threw a swing at Barnaby Jones so rocked this look.

Ha, I had a friend with pants like that. I always made fun of him when he wore them. Poor guy.

Got to agree. Those kids look like they'll be future TV thugs.

My older brother wore pants like that. And my dad used to rock the jacket/turtleneck look!

We call patterned pants like that the "Newhart." On the original show, Bob loved the solid sports coat with plaid pants. I was just teasing my girlfriend when she boght a plaid skirt and jacket for work. She doesn't enjoy when I tell her she's doin' the "Newhart."

I had a pair of those pants, complete with the red turtleneck....I wore it with a denim sport coat though...gotta have some kind of integrity!!

My dad would have murdered someone before wearing those type of clothes. I remember him lamenting how he couldn't find a decent pair of pants in the 70s that wasn't "bell bottoms" or flared at the very least. Other than the zip-up-the-side-boots he sported for several decades, he was pretty "timeless" with his fashion sense.
