Nuh nuh nuh nuh nuh THE BAT?

As I recall in 1975, I brought my mother my Mego Batman doll, a needle and some thread and asked her to make me the exact outfit for Halloween. My mom, prudent at darning socks and replacing buttons was not exactly a dress maker, so she did the next thing and took me to Woolco.
Of course, one we got there, there was no Batman to be found and I ended up settling for a Collegeville "THE BAT" costume, one of the biggest rip offs I've ever seen.

I must admit though, I was completely overjoyed with this ensemble and wore it until it fell apart.
The memory was so happy that my mother and I would make the exact same mistake the following year and revisit Woolco looking for my next superheroic obsession. More on that later.

PS that wallpaper in the top picture? It was fuzzy like a G.I. Joe's beard....

Since Ben Cooper couldn't get Batman's suit right either, it makes this suit look a little better. But as long as young Brian was happy, who cares? DC has enough money, anyway.

Wow, these days Warner would have sued someone's butt off for a costume like that.

Ahhh, I remember fuzzy wallpaper. Ours was red and gold. Classy!

The fact that you were so happy completely changed my initial reaction to that picture. At first, I thought how I would have been ****ed/humiliated wit that. Clearly, you were a much more mature and appreciative kid than the little diva I sued to apparently be.

At least you didn't wear the purple pants it came with. Who's the kid behind you? Daniel Boone? Davy Crockett? an Indian?

Most likely me, I wasn't real proficient with knives at five, actually I'm still really bad with them.

Nah, that was my homestead. My grandparents had gold fuzzy wall paper and nekkid lady paintings.

It's my sister as some generic Indian, she never got cool costumes.

Well, it looks close to Batman, and as long as you were happy, that's all that matters.

My mom's bedroom wallpaper wasn't fuzzy, but it was embossed.
