    Playset Love

While the Marx Naverone set is cool and you can never go wrong with some plastic dinosaurs (especially in combination with the army men!) I think the big star for me here is the Martian landing playset.

Astronauts, vehicles and that Big wheel space station? That's all i need. I'm pretty sure you can still find these same astronauts in dollar stores.

I had that Navarone playset. Besides the regular green (and gray) army men it also had "injured" or "dead" army men that you could put on a little stretcher.

I agree, the Martian Landing playset would be cool.

My buddy David from down the street had the Navarone playset and we spent many hours playing with it, a lotta fun! I don't recall the martian playset, but it looks cool.

Didn't they also do a Iwo Jima Playset using the Naverone Mountain and accessary molded in another color and Japanese Troops instead of German.

? Does anyone know who made the POTA Playset, I believed it was based on the last apes movie; Battle. I have one packed away in original brown box, like you get it your order from a catalog. I remember seeing it in Sears or Ward Catalog back in 1975-76. The playset has two trees, connected by a rope bridge. 2 or 3 ape soldiers that go on horses, a male and female chimp that stand on there own, some army men with blue vehicles; a yellow guy,(driver) hooked to a jeep.

I think they must have sold that Navarone mountain set for years in the (Sears?) catalog cuz I seem to remember seeing it every year?

Always had the green army men, never the playsets.. {sigh} I always went bonkers for friends/relatives who had the Apollo space playsets.. Mars would have been awesome.

I just noticed that I think I have some of the large guns/cannons from the Navarone playset. I bought a lot of old toys at an antique store a few years back because I saw there was a minty CAH Superman in the bag. It was full of all sorts of random toy parts from the 60s/70s. Thanks for solving a mystery for me!

I had a smaller prehistoric playset and the dinosaurs were either grayish-blue or greenish color. It was a fun set.

If anyone just has to have one; there's one of those Navarone sets, complete with box on ebay right now for current bid of $26. But the shipping cost? OUCH!

I'm not sure about that but in the early 00s a company re-packaged the Navarone and re-colored almost everything in it and turned it into Hilltop Alpha. I meant to buy one but never got around to it.

I remember the set but never owned one. Didn't it also come with Zaius? I run across them on eBay from time to time but never bid even though I love all things POTA.
