    Click-clacks, clackers, Kerbangers...

OK, I'm sure most of you know what I'm talking about. I remember when these things were all the rage in kindergarten. Alas, my mom wouldn't let me have them, so you can imagine my delight when I found some at the toy show! I took 'em to school today and of course my kids, and even some of the parents were fascinated. Some of the adults even wanted a turn, including my fellow co-workers!

Did you have these as a kid? What color? Did you get hurt by them?

I had these for sure. I think my set was either orange or yellow. Loved them. Never did get seriously hurt by them using them the correct way. Probably hit my wrist once or twice trying to get the hang of them.

Didn't they ban or recall these do to safty concerns? And didn't Ralph Nader call them unsafe on any playground?

Boy, Do I remember these!!! I still get a pain in my wrist everytime it rains because of "click-clacks". OUCH! It was kinda like someone pitching a billiard ball at your wrist when you least expected it. Ah... Memories

Yeah, ultimately they stopped producing them because of the injuries they were causing. Simple, Fun AND they could be used as a weapon.

I don't think there was an offical recall, but the complaints killed them off.

One of the best toys ever! They were easy to use. I was amazed as a child that people were getting hurt with them. I had clear aqua, orange, and then a red/pink pair. My mom a single mother had a roomate who lived with us to help pay bills ect. Anyway the roomate would go out on weekends and drink so these must have not helped her hangover. Surpise my Klackers kept dissapearing

I remember my folks telling me how dangerous these were.

Think B.A. Where did you hide the Megos?

Oh yeah! I had a set of Kerbangers with one neon yellow ball and one neon pink ball. Funny,...mine went missing also. I wonder how many parents tossed those things in the trash? I have a pair now that we haul out whenever we have a party. People love to play with them.

Yup, I had them too. It was clackers and yo-yo's. All the rage when I was a kid.
It is funny, I can remeber wairing striped bell bottoms and platform shoes to school.

                    Click-clacks, clackers, Kerbangers...

Weren't they made out of glass when they were first introduced?

Glass that broke if you clacked them enough?

I could never get the hang of them as a kid, and I knew a couple of kids that got mild concussions from them.

Now, the new ones are made of shatterproof plastic.

Would you believe I found a NOS set of these in an old toy store still on the peg?!? It must be 30 years old!!! The old man even sold it to me at what I take to be the original price!

Fate is very playful with me. The set I found is even the exact same color as the set I grew up with in the late 70's...and I definitely remember the bruises (the protective sleeve was too late and not cool).

Well, I went crazy over it and my wife thought I was a bit ridiculous. I bet her I could get a lot of money for it on ebay and so the wager is on...

I hope it's not bad manners to link to my auction...if anything, at least you get to see rare pics of a NIP set of Ker-bangers (I had searched for it and never could find one) and hopefully that brings back more memories for you as it did for me.

                        Here it is....
