    Sesame Street Week On PlaidStallions

I've been meaning to get to this for a long time now but the discovery of this photo of my fifth birthday cake (which was coconut died blue BTW) provided me some motivation. Like many of us, I was Sesame street obsessed as a kid, even my dog's name was Grover.

Christmas 1975 provided me with the one of the best playsets of all time, I not only still have it but I'm within five feet of it now.

Which leads us to today's cool Sesame Street entry, I say this far too often but I'd wear this now....

I loved Sesame Street. My favourite was Grover, I had a wonderful hand puppet just like the one on TV...I even had a Grover voice. I had finger puppets too. I had a really soft spot for Oscar too... my favourite coffee cup has him on it.

I have a talking Cookie Monster, and recorded him for my 'phone ringtone :D

      I'll never grow up.

Sesame Street is still a big hit at our house. Our daughter seems to like it even more than our son did, and he watched it quite a bit. I still have to read "The Monster at the End of This Book" to him from time to time, doing my Grover voice.

        That's one cool cake Brain!

Sesame Street has ALWAYS rocked IMO! Fans of the old stuff would serve themselves well to pick up the "Old School" DVDs (Volumes 1 and 2).

I love Sesame Street! As a kid, I watched it long after it was "age appropriate". I had the finger puppets, the record album, and a Cookie Monster hand puppet. My fave was always Ernie. Since I'm a teacher, when I taught pre-school, I've read "Monster At The End Of This Book" in Grover-speak too. I now subscribe to a Sesame St. channel on YouTube and relive old memories. And to this day, if I make those frozen dough cookies, I sing the "C is for Cookie" song.
"Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."

If I remembered more about my younger years, I'm sure the only other internet site I would frequent would be the Sesame Museum. I loved the fact that few other shows had kids enjoying urban life, but Sesame Street looked like it was a cleaner version of the ones we had in West Philly!

In college I even got a job at the Sesame Place Amusement Park outside of Philadelphia. It was a great place to work and I even got to be Cookie Monster one day!

And yes, would love to have one of those hat and scarf sets.
