As summer comes to an end, what better time then to take a look at the Fall/Winter fashions our parents decked us out in to make that trip back to the classroom. So basically I'm doing what I always do here, just pretending it's some sort of event. Um........ta-da?
Yep, I remember when kids had school clothes and play clothes. And yes, I was decked in new clothes and my Buster Brown shoes. I miss those days.

'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."
this time of year I still get a sick feeling in my stomach ... and I haven't been in school since 1995 lol
I hated school … at least it gave me a reason to be good, if school was that bad … no way did I ever want to go to prison
My little niece is going to be in the 6th grade this year … seems just like yesterday I was pushing her in her little plastic car thing when she was about 2 years old. At least she has me to help mellow grandma down ... so she doesn't end up dressing like a dork.
Me on the other hand wasn’t so lucky … when I was her age, I got stuck with a closet full of Cosby Sweaters :( come winter time ... I pretty much had no choice ... I had to wear them or be cold lol good thing it was the 80's and they didn't seem as lame then as they do now.
Oh God I remember the days before pre washed and comfort fit jeans.
The first days of school would always mean wearing those super stiff and scratchy clothes. Ugghhhhh.
And looking back at some old photos. Man did Mr Furly have his own clothing line.
Lo there do I see my Father.
Lo there do I see my Mother and my Sisters and my Brothers.
Lo there do I see the line of my people back to the begining.
Lo they do call me.
They bid me take my place among them.

One has to wonder where the kid on the left has his left hand. Although judging by the look on the kid on the right,I think we have a pretty good idea.
I love the thumb in the pocket look. It gives these kids such a mature, urbane air.
Me, i loved this time of year. Yeah, I know how geeky that is, but I loved going to get school supplies (Mead superheroes, baby!). Clothes were a bit of an issue, however. Fortunately I wasn't so fashion conscious during my Mego days that I even noticed that I was one of the only kids who thought designer jeans meant toughskins.
It was the same going back to school after christmas...you had to wear those clothes you got as presents from horrible relatives that didn't know what a toy was.....
ENGLISH AND DAMN PROUD OF IT British by birth....English by the grace of God. Yes Jamie...it is big isn't it....

lol. In the 70's, every school year my mom would get me a "fresh" pair of Toughskins jeans from Sears. I had all of the colors: puce, burgundy, sand, dark blue. I was stylish
