Restoration Question

I bought a few micronauts awhile back .... A real bunch of beaters. Time travelers are in need of new o-rings and space gilders are loose and 60% of the paint is missing... So my question is this... If I repair them, buff up the metal and repaint them. Am I ruining them? Will someday someone ask me why in Gods name did you you do such a dumb thing?

If they are keepers...restore to your hearts content. As long as you stay as true to the colors I can't see it being a problem.
