SpinMaster Batman 89

After seeing the latest SpinMaster DC Movie lineup based on Batman 89 I am going to pass on them. There generic looking figures that do not look like there movie versions.

Curious what others think?

The figures are a bit of a let-down....the packaging is a crime against humanity. Holy cow that's awful.

I can't take credit for this, because I saw it somewhere else, but they nailed it: Bob the Goon looks like Randy Quaid in Kingpin.

I saw the Superman wave at Target and liked them; there was a time when I would have collected them.

These Batman ones, however, are horrible.

Honestly i picked up the Superman set for a mate of mine and I thought they looked better online.

Did these ever come out? Or did Spinmaster cancel them due to everyone making fun of them?

I read online about a week ago that Spin Master wasn't moving forward with the Batman 89 figures. I was a little bummed because, while they weren't 'fantastic,' I was generally happy with their Superman Movie figures. I was looking forward to displaying the Superman 78 and Batman 89 figures on a shelf in my living room, if only for an afternoon sometime.

Amazon Warehouse was offering the Spin Master 89 Batmobile for this line (including a Batman 89 figure - with a soft-goods cape so it could fit in the driver's seat) at a discount because the box was badly damaged. So at least that was released. I bought it. I'm not an MIB collector, so the condition of the box was irrelevant to me. It arrived yesterday. I'm very satisfied with both the batmobile and the figure. That is, with the crucial added caveat "at the price point." ($27, with free shipping.) Other third-party resellers on Amazon have it listed for sale for prices that seem to fluctuate from $30-$35.

The batmobile is instantly recognizable as the 89 batmobile. But it is not a super detailed sculpt, and the deco is very limited. The cockpit door slides open easily, and the figure also fits in easily. If I had any quibble, it would be that the plastic it's molded in is a flat matte black, not a shiny black. Regardless, I feel like the batmobile matches the aesthetic of the figures.
