My oldest nephew, six year age gap, was a huge SW fan and I was often over at my oldest sisters house babysitting which also involved setting up huge play zones. We had to do the exact storylines with the exact characters. Really not fun. When Flash Gordon came out we used his SW toys and my CAH toys and Mork and his egg to do the movie. I think it made him realize you could do other characters with the toys. Just my biggest SW toy memory despite not being an owner

I don't consider preproduction prototypes to be actual toys. No moreso than paint masks, or tooling molds. It's all part of the process of MAKING a toy, but it is not something mass produced, or something a kid grew up playing with.
