I have a theory. I think Ben really IS Mego Spider-Man. He used his automatic camera to take pictures of himself just like the real Spider-Man.
His real name is Peter, but he's so riddled with guilt over the death of Mego Uncle Ben, he changed his name to BEN PETERson.
