It's the tv show/movie universe... I'm picking up right after the last tv episode that aired. What happened to Kirk will be explained (sort of) next chapter. Chekov was just off-duty... I figure they gotta sleep sometime!Comment

Actually reminded me of the STNG story Where Captain Jerico has to dress down the "Best Crew in star fleet" Troi your an officer get the hell out of that bunny suit.

It does seem that whomever sits in the Enterprise captain's chair... for Kirk OR Picard... turns out to be a total dick. But is it because we just expect that from someone trying to take our favorite captains' place... or could there actually be other good captains out there?
