    Star Trek Cards. . .

Hi all. I am new to The Mego Museum and am hoping someone can help me. I have recently begun my quest to build a complete Star Trek series of the 70's dolls. So far I have Kirk and Spock (I know, not a terribly difficult achievement), and during my adventure, I discovered these trading cards that I think would look awesome next to the dolls. Well, I have absolutely NONE of the cards and the ones I have seen on eBay have been running for $10+, seems a little steep to me. I have nothing to really trade but I am willing to purchase for a nominal amount. Or, if anyone can point me in the right direction to procure these card that would be awesome as well. If someone is willing to help me, I would be very grateful. Thank you all for your time and attention to my inquiries.

Good luck in all your quests. May you enjoy your journeys.

    Best Regards,

Welcome to the Mego Forums! The Star Trek Megos are a super set of action figures with wonderful head sculpts for Kirk, Spock and Bones! I'm sure you'll have a great time putting together your collection. They are definitely some of my favorite Megos!

The older cards like Star Trek and Planet of the Apes seem almost impossible to acquire. It is so cool that the Mego Museum took the time to create and release these cards...and as with cool item, they become more difficult to find as time goes by. I think the guys who've been on here constantly since the cards came out in 2005 probably have complete sets, so they don't spend much time in the card section of the forums. Also, I'm sure a lot of the people who were around when the cards were first given out aren't here anymore. There have been some generous folks who've helped me out with a few of the many cards that I'm missing, so maybe you'll be able to pick up a few too. I wish you luck!

Thanks Generic. I understand that I am a little late to the party for these cards. I just don't know where exactly they came from. Were they promotional items given away at conventions? Exclusives? What? Is there a source that still makes them? Thanks so much for the warm welcome. I appreciate it. I look forward to putting the collection together and learning more about Mego at the same time. Thanks so much for the information!

My understanding is that when the cards were first made in 2005 - 2006, they were given away at conventions and at Mego Meet specifically, given out here at the Mego Museum and given away with certain items purchased from the guy who made them. I think he picked a few of the members here on the Mego Museum forums who were the most active and sent them a bunch of cards each for them to give away with trades and stuff too. That may not all be correct, but that's my basic understanding.

I don't think any of the Star Trek cards are still in production. The Batman related cards (Batman, Robin, Batgirl, Joker, Penguin, Riddler, Catwoman, Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson) were reprinted with different backs a couple of years ago. So I guess there's a chance that the Star Trek cards may be reprinted someday too, but these days, it seems like there aren't many floating around.

The cards were sponsored by members here at the museum, meaning we paid to have them printed after Scott designed them. I myself sponsored Sitting Bull and co-sponsored Robin (and would gladly sponsor another one). They were/are given away to members who buy in the marketplace or attend shows. Brian says 4000 cards are headed to Mego Meet, including some tougher ones.

Unfortunately I will not be able to make it to Mego Meet. It sounds like a blast though!
