    Cost of producing toy cards

It's the cost of printing would make it impossible for me to produce any toy cards.
Is there any way you can share that information regarding the costs of printing the cards? I'd love to have an idea of what it takes to gets these produced.

The Cipsa cards are a perfect example. Those were fantastic!

I'd love to see that as well. Very cool idea!

I have thought that about doing the EMCE Treks because they are so good and such a nice extension of the original line. Kirk vs Khan, plug the new Gorn into the old Gorn card...Sulu and Chekov...

I'd go for new Gorn vs. old Gorn.

I'd like to see a "Retro-Action Mattel" line of cards with all the new figures (could you get them to stand up long to take pictures of them?), a "Retro-Action EMCE" line of cards for all the repro Star Trek figures ( different poses than the originals.) and Night of the Living Dead figures. I'd also love to see the new Twilight Zone, Venture Bros and Dark Shadows get their own cards under the brand names. If each of these companies backed the expense of producing the cards, I'd be happy to pay to own them in order to offset that expense.

I'd even love to see a "Custom" series of cards based solely customs produced by Museum members. I'd even make a "donation" to the cost of getting them produced.

                  The possibilities are endless.
WHAT HE SAID! I would like to sponsor more of them as well.

Yeah, it seems like there's something of a consensus here. I agree that the Mego MUSEUM line is for the classic figures only, but I'd love to have a different set of cards covering EMCE, Retro Action, Cast-A-Way. I would be willing to help, too, if anyone is interested. I know my way around Photoshop and have been interested in sponsoring a card for a bit now...

The only problem with making new figure cards is it might create a problem deciding which figures get on cards ...

A totally made up example .....

It's been decided that a card of Retro Heroes Green Lantern will be made .....
This might secretly alienate Castaway --- or even the hundred customizers that think their Green Lantern is 100 times nicer than Mattel's.

Seems to me like it might be a sticky situation when dealing with new stuff that's still being produced.

I can’t wait for the AJ cards, considering the amount of outfits and accessories it should be awesome!

Here is what I'd like to see happen...just throwing it out there to see what everyone thinks.

We could create a list of different card series for various toy lines (such as an EMCE imprint, Mattel imprint, Cast-A-Way imprint, MEGO series that haven't been done) and then hold a survey here on the MM site to see which line should be done first.

Once that has been decided by vote, let the designers that have been creating the original MM cards work on that series. Maybe the work can be divided up between different museum members that have that talent.

Once those are done and the series has been revealed (as was done with the Pirate cards), find out the total cost to have a certain number of sets printed. Let's say it costs $5000 for example. Set up a mego museum Pay Pal account accessible by a trusted administrator and let MM members make donations toward the cause of getting the entire print run. Those that are interested in a particular series can donate to paying for the cost run. If you're not interested in that particular series, then don't donate. Those of us that are interested could sell items in the Marketplace and donate the money toward the print run. This way all of us in a sense could "sponsor" a series of cards.

Once all the money has been gathered, print the cards. Send one or two sets first to every member that donated to the cost of the print run. Ones that are left can be distributed on a first come, first serve basis.

Once all those sets have been distributed, let trading begin. If the demand is great enough to warrant a second run of the same series, start the process over again.

                            Good or bad idea?

It would never work. Everyone here would vote for Museum cards first (or at least I hope they would). There is no way Scott or Brian would do cards for EMCE or Mattel or Castaway while there are still so many other Mego or PlaidStallion cards still left to do.

The ONLY way other cards will ever get made is if someone outside the museum card guys actually does them (the way the CIPSA cards were done). That means taking all the photos, creating all the designs, having them printed and cut and then mailing them out to memebers. ALL FOR FREE. I dare say that isn't going to happen. Could it - sure. But I just don't see it.

I have been holding off on posting in this thread since it started, but now I will. I had a blast producing the CIPSA line of cards, and I plan on making a few more to continue that line. I would be very willing to be that "someone" to produce cards of other lines. However, I would need to approach this with a fair amount of caution. First of all, it would have to be with Scott and Brian's complete blessing. If they feel in any way that doing so might cause any problems here, then I would nix the idea completely. I do not want to cause any hard feelings from either of them for possibly doing something that they would rather do, nor cause any problems with MM members who might be upset if a certain line is produced first and they wanted another. That might be worrying a little too much, as most would probably be happy with whatever came out. However, you never know.

I have a printer I use that is very reasonable. However, having funded the CIPSA line on my own, I would definitely need sponsors on any new non-CIPSA cards. The time I would be willing to devote would be for the love of doing them, but the actually printing cost and postage is not something I can afford to do more than once. And if it was felt that having sponsors for a new line of cards might prevent true MM Mego cards from being sponsored, than that would be a good reason to nix the idea as well, as I agree the that MM Mego and PS lines are part of the Museum's identity and cannot be compromised.
