    NYC Mego Gathering Aug. 6th

Cjefferys and I are headed for NYC first weekend of August!

We're about less than three weeks off and thought I'd see if folks were interested in a gathering of Mego Museum folks in Manhatten somewhere. Perhaps dinner on Saturday night? Who's interesting?

I'm interesting and interested. I'll try to keep that day free.

Any suggestions for a dinner place from the locals? I think we're pretty open, although we were planning on hitting Toy Tokyo, St Mark's Comics and other stores in that area if folks want to eat somewhere around the Village?

If it's alot of people...I would suggest Carmine's in Midtown:

Carmine's Italian Restaurant is a family-style restaurant offering exceptional value to its guests through many traditional southern Italian dishes. Order delivery or take-out today!

              Family Style Italian Food.

If it's a handful of us...I know a few places of various cultural varieties depending on your palette

If you guys decide to make it in the Bronx....Let me suggest Louie's Seafood restaurant.. I know the owner and they have a party room where we could display our Megos. I'll be taking my Shuttle Craft to celebrate the 50th year of the Classic Star Trek series.

okay, sounds good. Let's do a last call for folks here (and they can drop us a line through FB as well), and we'll post details.

Listen to Tommy - he knows from what he speaks. I wish I could be there with you guys, but I'll be in Indy for GenCon this weekend.

Well, it ended up being rather intimate, just Ed/Samurainoir, Tom/WannabeMego and myself, but we still had a blast eating Japanese food and shooting the breeze. Plus Tom was a fantastic tour guide, showing Ed and I around with lots of stories, history and trivia of NYC to tell!

Tom and his wife were AMAZING hosts. We had a blast in NYC and packed in an incredible amount of touristy stuff for just two days, but I think Chris and I are both in agreement that the best part was just hanging out with Tom (and his family). We really regret not being able to co-ordinate with more people, but I think this really illustrates that you can capture that "Mego Meet" feeling with even just a few people going out to dinner or hanging around having a drink.

Wish we had more time to be able to visit other parts of area and other MM friends out in places like Brooklyn, Bronx etc. Hopefully next time, since there is so much more to see and do in the NYC area.

                            some highlights:

Katsu Hama is a terrific Japanese Restaurant in mid-town that Tom took us to.

Absolutely, I could just hang out taking to you guys all day!

Poor Rupert G, he's such a good sport. It was surreal walking into Hello Deli after seeing it on TV for years on Letterman.
