Never take no for an answer if you know you're in the right. It turns out there was an error in the linking of the additional insurance I'd purchased with the tracking #. I had to contact customer relations and they were able to sort it all out. They issued me a refund for the original requested amount. Whew! It was a major pain in the arse that I hope no one else has to go through.

A number of years ago the Post Office crushed a Captain Action Silver Streak I sold to someone. The whole front of it was crushed. For obvious reasons, I was upset as well as the buyer. I had purchased insurance on it, and the Post Office approved the claim, but they insisted on keeping the damaged Silver Streak after paying the insurance. I asked what they were going to do with it and they said they had to destroy it and dumpster it. It killed me knowing they were going to toss it, but considering it was either not getting the money for the damage they had done, or keeping a busted up Silver Streak i took the money.
