Venture Bros. Jackson Publick Loves the Book!

I got a call from my buddy, Otto, tonight. Otto is the guy who did the amazing oil painted Mego portraits in the book, and he's a huge fan of the cartoon Venture Bros. Anyway, Otto tracked down show creator Jackson Publick earlier today, asking whether he could send him a free copy of the book.

Publick wrote back within hours, apparently expressing great appreciation for the book, adding that he had already bought one for himself and one for his brother.

I'm not that familiar with the show yet, but I have watched some episodes over at Charlie's (MegoGeek) house each time I've gone to hang out with fellow Mego heads in Chicago.

I understand one of Publick's favorite parts of the book is the interior snapshots of Mego's offices, back in the day. Pretty cool, as I love those, too.

Thought I'd share with you guys. Now I'm off to get Venture Bros. on DVD!

It's not surprising to hear that, all the pop culture references that VB drops suggest 70's childhood and 80's teen years. Do yourself a favour and pick up the series, it's really worth it.

Kudos on the praise too, well deserved.

Ignore what I said about Season 3. Right now is Season 3. Duh. That's what I get for thinking about this and Robot Chicken.

HA! awesome. I knew they had to love mego.

they made a refference to the JokerMobile in the xmas special, and doctor orpheous made custom megos of the "order of the triad" in the latset episode.

That is so cool! I ROARED when Dr. O started talking about his custom Megos and then asks Brock later if he "sculpted" the shrunk guy himself."

Mina is the world's first Paranormal Petsitter in the new middle-grade book series by Gary Buettner, MONSTER PETS, coming in FALL 2014 from EMBY KIDS. Spooky adventure that's perfect reading for kids 8-12

Congrats Benjamin! Venture Bros. is my absolute favorite show on TV right now. Its a twisted deconstruction of about every genre geeks love, with a heart of gold.

In season two, there is also a mention of Micronauts, so Megos have been peppered through the show since the beginning.

I was reminded of this thread today. It's great to know that a Mego fans created Venture Bros. and now there are Venture Bros. Megos! I need to catch up too.
