You have a Tarzan, a truly underrated figure.

Copyright dates are always misleading, a rule of thumb is they normally are a year previous to the toy's actual release. Sometimes, like the case of the Planet of the Apes series, the copyright date was 1967 which makes a lot of people think they are a sixties toy.

The 72 on the head is just when Tarzans copyrights were renewed and has nothing to do with when MEGO releashed the figure

My Tarzan has a 72 neck but his body is 74 Trek!
Too many toys. Not enough space!

1972 is when the head was sculpted, in anticipation of Tarzan's 1973 production and introduction into the line. Mego unveiled the prototype during Toy Fair in February 1973.

Mego never changed the copyright scratched into the neck, so all of them say "1972" including those on Type 2 figures, which have "1974" embossed on the backs.

The one mentioned with a Star Trek body is just a swap-out. Not original.

I stand corrected, I was under the impresson the date on the back dealt with the copyrights, I had no idea it was when the head sculp was done, But then thats the great thing about this place, you always learn something new

I know. Thought he was a Nekid Romulan when I first got him! Now he is a member of the Nekid boys club and wearing a spare AJ outfit.
