I recently bought a tarzan off a seller here and i knew previous to my buying that tarzan came out in 1974 but on the neck of mine it says 1972! it looks comepletely normal compared to other tarzans but it just says 1972 on his neck. what do i have here?

You have a Tarzan, a truly underrated figure.
Copyright dates are always misleading, a rule of thumb is they normally are a year previous to the toy's actual release. The 72 on the head is just when Tarzans copyrights were renewed and has nothing to do with when MEGO releashed the figureComment

Mego never changed the copyright scratched into the neck, so all of them say "1972" including those on Type 2 figures, which have "1974" embossed on the backs.
The one mentioned with a Star Trek body is just a swap-out. Not original.

1972 is when the head was sculpted, in anticipation of Tarzan's 1973 production and introduction into the line. Mego unveiled the prototype during Toy Fair in February 1973.
Mego never changed the copyright scratched into the neck, so all of them say "1972" including those on Type 2 figures, which have "1974" embossed on the backs.
