    Repairing a Magnetic Batman leg?

Okay, so I got a new, nice almost-minty Magnetic Batman from Berto at the meet. He had a loose knee joint due to a broken pin, but Berto threw in an extra good leg for free, cuz he's a stand-up guy!

I was planning on just swapping out the entire leg. But I didn't realize that the costume is some how attached to the leg calf under the boot cuff. So now I was planning on taking the pin from the good leg and put it in the leg that is already on the figure. Well, I don't think I've ever removed a pin without destroying one part of it.

So now I'm kind of stuck. Do I chance messing up the suit, or messing up the pin? He's all original now, and I'd like to keep him that way, so a set of repro pins isn't an option (yet).

Any suggestions? If I can get the suit off the figure without damaging it, that may be easier, but I'm open to whichever works.

I'd have to look at my Batman when I get home to check how his foot is attached, but couldn't you push the ankle pin out, slide the boot cuff off to see where the suit is attached to the calf? I remember as a kid I could never get the Bat suit removed from mine to wash it, but it didn't occur to me to try to remove the foot.

Wyatt's right:. I popped both ankle and wrist pins out of my magnetic Batman and then removed the glove and boot sleeves without a problem. At that point, the costume comes off like any other 12" mego, and you should be able to do practically anything you want to the body without damaging anything. In my case, I disassembled as much of the body as possible, even taking out the magnets themselves, because Bats was literally caked with mud. I finally resorted to using a sonic-electric toothbrush to get all the crud out of his joints and extremities. After a uniform wash, everything reassembled beautifully.

It wasn't fun, but it's definitely doable, and sound like it's worth the hassle for you.

Chris, I used an Allen wrench style driver (hexagonal head mounted to a handle like a screwdriver; I'm REALLY bad with proper tool names) to push mine out. The set I borrowed had several different sizes, so I just tried a couple til I found the closest diameter match. Hope it helps

I'd recommend using the allen wrench as well.

Just wanted to thank you all for the advice. The allen wrench trick worked great, and now Batman is minty-fresh!
