    new dinah mite variant?

    hey all

I just picked up a Dinah mite health spa set and only took a peek at it when purchasing it. i logged into the museum to see if it was complete (nearly except for the blender) and noticed the dinah is different from the ones pictured. Sh has the correct black outfit, but with a white viynal belt with a buckle. i thought it may just be a belt someone put on her, but after my hands fumbled with the white plastic belt (sorry i could not resist rocky fans) i noticed that it looks to be factory because it is sealed together and cannot come off the figure without damaging it. is this some sort of proto or variant? i know health spa dinah is harder to come by, and want to know the value of this piece. i will snap a few photos in the meantime. Being from long island, and that it is essentially mego's back yard, i figure it could be possible for protos to show up at the occasional yard sale (at least one can dream.)

Without pictures it is impossible to assess what you have. Even then it will be difficult, unless it is identified as something else. It could be an outfit or belt from another figure.

odd thing is, i would not be able to get the outfit round the hips without destroying the belt.

I think the belt is too big for her and I'm not sure Mego would have used that white belt when they could have thrown on her elastic belt with small buckle that you see on the reg. DM dolls. It would be chaeper (very mego!) and it would look better as it would be the correct size. Why would Dinah need a fancy belt to work out anyway?

It doesn't jive with any Mego belt techniques I've seen. I'd guess it is some sort of add on by the owner, maybe thinking it went with the item when they sold it.

                  Hmmmm....

Looks like a 12" figure belt that someone put on. It's way too long and wide. I've had a lot of 12" figures with belts like that. Is it possible that the belt won't come off 'cos the plastic's fuzed over the years, and that's why it won't come off?
