I've had this head for awhile and don't know what to do with it. Is it junk or is it a treasure? It has NRP 1972 on the back. It's not any kind of repro. I got it with a bunch of old original mego parts that had a supergirl suit with a real emblem on it and some other goodies. I think if it was a fake the seller would have also tried to fake the supergirl emblem as well. Just not sure.

It's just your typical 8 inch mego head size. I'm not selling. Just wanted input from the experts what I have here. thanks.Comment

It's a treasure! It's marked correctly and if RM or Alter Ego, It's still a great item and your lucky to have gotten it in a lot of stuff.Comment

I'll need lots of expertise opinions before I will know what to believe. I want to believe its a treasure.Comment

Thats a T2 neckplug...neither the RM Robin or the AE/SI came on a T2 body (technically the AE/SI didn't come on a body
)
"Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn"
In the Southeast Pacific, lies the sunken city of R'Leyh. There lies C'thulhu waits to return to our world with the other Great Old Ones. A hideous creature of enormous size and alien power, it waits for it's time to return patiently. For it has all the time in the world while it waits for the stars.

Todd,
Somethin's funny with the eyes and brows on that head.
Do they look repainted?
I own several authentic RM Robins and to me the eyes and brows
on your head strongly resemble a DM RM Robin repro.
BUT if it was a DM,that MEGO copyright info on the back would'nt make sense.
And as Merlyn already stated it has a T2 neckplug which was'nt yet available
at the time of production of RM heads. It wd have to be a T1.
So I am confused, too.Hope some of that info helps you solve the mystery.
Best,
Mike
btw todd-I still LOVE the Blade,Morbius and Dr Stange custom figs. you made for me.You are an arteest!!

Awesome, glad you like the figures!
There's is the standard copyright date on the back, so its not DM. The eyes look factory made. Not sure about the eyebrows but I don't know what a Secret Identity Robin is suppose to look like. I've seen a few pics of the RM Robin and there is a distinct shape to the eybrows that this one dosen't have.
So the eybrows along with the neckplug might be the signs its an altered Robin head.Comment

I think you're right...it's just an altered T2 Robin head.
But how would someone be able to get the mask off that cleanly and leave the eyes intact??
Is that possible??Comment

It's an altered Robin head...T2 neck plug is the giveaway. Unless someone has proof that AE or RM heads came with T2 Neckplugs...that's an altered robin head. Just my 2 cents for what it's worth."When not too many people can see we're all the same
And because of all their tears,
Their eyes can't hope to see
The beauty that surrounds them
Isn't it a pity".

If you can do a better picture that would be easier to tell. I was going on the markings. I have not paid close attention to neck plugs but I guess it would be a good idea to get to know these things.
Also is there some place that really shows all the neck plugs? I want to look at it now this has come up.Comment

Sorry so late to this thread. I love this kind of stuff. But on the sad downturn, unfortunately the eyes are all wrong. They all have a distinct way they were painted and one pupil protrudes downward into the lower eyelid. My gut feeling is that it was a custom RMR made prior to DM's China repros.I've had this head for awhile and don't know what to do with it. Is it junk or is it a treasure? It has NRP 1972 on the back. It's not any kind of repro. I got it with a bunch of old original mego parts that had a supergirl suit with a real emblem on it and some other goodies. Here is the best way to check the authenticity of an original Mego head. Even though Dave doesn't post non roto repro heads, or customized paint jobs, this does show in detail, the original. As for the RMR, I have owned a few of them (because I'm an excentric when it comes to original DC Megos) with one being the Grayson figure. They all have the EXACT same paint job on the eyes and eyebrows. The RCB changes slightly but RMR should look exactly like the two on the left in this photo and the neck plug should be long:

I don't think a DM head would have the 1972 copyright date on the back. So I really don't think its a Doc Mego.
I think the eyes are original but it's looking like the eyebrows aren't matching your examples. So maybe this is an altered type 2 robin head.Last edited by illegalmego; Apr 25, '08, 10:10 AM.Comment
