An emce reverse/mirror figure would have been excellent. Be it Ray Harper or James Naughton. It would have been a must have.

Is the Playmates one correct? Did he have black and white hands in the show? I cant remember.

As a kid, it bothered me that his body wasn't half white, half black, and the neckline of the suit always exposed part of his (full black) chest. I ended up painting it half white. Still have that one.
It must be hard for EMCE to pick between nostalgia and screen accuracy.
I would have bought both versions of the Cheron, and even one that flipped the two colors.

I was glad they wanted to make a "correct" Gorn, but didn't like the outcome much, the body being too skinny and the soft fabrics used. Gorn and Pike were my only EMCE disappointments, the rest were great.

And I never knew about this. For some reason I just did not buy any of the Playmates lineup of ReMegos. Could be because they where taller.

thoughts on the playmates version? Really fascinated at the fact that 9" took ahold so much during that late 90's period rather than proper 8" Mego.

I like the goofy mego -Verdan -che-ron Harper,it was classic for its day.Bele was done correctly by playmates and was a nice figure,no loki to
chase though.a Mego correct figure would be awesome.

I laugh out the "naked" remark myself now. That comment was from my Mom and it just has stuck with me.

I don't think any of this is cost cutting, I think it's a way of making a design more appealing to children.

Mego wasn't really interested in creating replicas of the aliens as this trek line was probably the last to be marketed to kids, not adult collectors.

Also, if he's naked, why does he have a belt? That's gross, like a vestigial tail or something.
And if he's naked, why is he wearing boots?

I always liked Megos Cheron better than the shows as a kid. Seemed less ridiculous to me at the time.

I knew they used the Ron Harper head as a base, but was the rumor of this head originally being for a non produced Phantom figure ever resolved/ debunked?

I honestly didn't envy EMCE in their choices for the trek aliens, you have one contingent wanting more accurate replicas and another that wanted exact recreations of the Mego originals. It absolutely isn't a consensus but I think ultimately they made the right decision.

When EMCE released the revised Gorn, a number of people here were upset, wanting a reproduction of the Mego Gorn. It was pretty eye opening.

Let's be frank, one Cheron was enough for kids in 1975.

oops that is what happens when I post past midnight, those words start to blur. Thanks for moving it.

When I was a kid it was one of the few sci-fi series my parents would watch with me. Then while we were shopping for Megos I saw the character and my mom asked me "why is he naked?" and then asked "where is he's opposite?" are digging through the shelves and when we could not find him I decided not to get him.

So again years later when EMCE was releasing the figures I was hoping that this was going to be fixed and nope still no opposite figure and that silly head.
