    Zombie Head Question

I've read on the site about the "zombie head" issue and the fact that it is prevalent among French carded FF figures. Is that something that would most likely have afflicted the figure at this point in time??? In other words, if you are looking at a French carded FF figure today, and the figure looks clean, is it reasonable to conclude that the figure is unlikely to suffer from zombie head in the future?

Thanks as always for your thoughts on this one.

I think as the plastics continue to break down there will always be a chance of a head going zombie.

Think B.A. Where did you hide the Megos?

Interesting. So I guess that means it is best to stay away from the French carded FF figures.

No I would not say that.

Remember these are over 30 years old, and I'm sure the plastics they used were not top notch stuff. So over time the chemicals are going to break down, regardless if its a French card or whatever.

There has been some discussion here about if storage conditions may hasten the greying process as well.

I've noticed, most or all Fantastic Four figures that were sold on the card did or eventually will turn green.
            French, US, Italian etc......

During that time is when Mego used a low-grade plasticizer in Hong Kong.
Not sure if it was Mego's fault or the company that provided it.

Either way, it was flawed and effects all Mego's within the time it was used....
(the Fantastic Four carded days) along with many other mego's released at that time --including many 12" Megos

Interesting. Has anyone noticed this with respect to the Thing figure?? I have personally seen it with both the Torch and Mr. Fantastic.

Thing and Torch are both moulded the same as Mr F and IG.......
Same bad plasticizer as Invisible Girl and Mr F....

Since their heads are not moulded in flesh, the bad plasticizer effects them in a different way.

Torch and Thing usually either go gray, or kind of faded..
Their colors don't appear as present as Mr F and and IG.....
But the result is still the same.

Many have an oily look and feel -- stickey
This is the bad plasticizer leaching out of the rubber mould.

I've seen Torches turn a nasty gray-pink. Things mostly just seem to fade to a lighter orange-yellow color.

My Torch was liberated off a French card, and he was grey.

I tried to degrey him, but I could see no noticeable results after 3 tries.

my Reed has always looked fine. Remember even the zombie heads can be corrected following Dr. Meg'o method. I've tried it and it works! My 2 cents
