Bump. I'm asking that any members attending MegoMeet, please consider taking your RCB's and SI's along for comparison. This is for a personal project. I believe that in my findings that perhaps not all SI's released had the color change but I am finding that I believe it to be a characteristic only applicable to SI's. In otherwords, you wouldn't find a carded, Superman, RMR or RCB with the different "coffee" complexion. But you may find, an SI with the pinkish complexion natural to most t1 mego heads.
So far the shift has been validated by:

Imp suggested to me that it may be worth pusuing for one to verify that they indeed have an SI.
In another email Imp indicated to me.. "As you'll read in my book, the outfits were produced utterly OUTSIDE Mego's New York production circle. It was handled entirely in Hong Kong, by the matriarch and patriarch of the family."
I'm wondering if this is perhaps true of the molding of the heads used for the SI's which would cause the pigmentation shift to be limited to them if perhaps molded together at a particular time.
Wildstar suggested to me that he believes that the evidence will likely always be non-conclusive due to several variable factors in molding facilities with several color mixes (however, I maintain, that I have seen several non-SI's compared the set I have and they all have the pink pigment whereas the SI's do not.
Brian has stated that he has seen Bagged versions of Wayne and Grayson with the RCB and RMR standard heads stamped as such, which makes it difficult to conclude that all have the color shift.
However, if no carded Superhero (SM, RCB, RMR) examples exist that have the color shift, the coffee complexion must be limited to if not all SI's then only SI figures and not the standard type 1 SH head.
Nice research Len. It sounds like the conclusion is that often these heads have this unique color, although with Brian's statement that he's seen RCB and RM heads labeled bagged with SI's, it can't be a rule. That statement also casts further doubt on the neck stamping consistency on these heads. It's certainly worth making a note of though.
Although I asked, Brian didn't mention the color. It is still unclear if these examples had the coffee color with the stamp. For instance, my Clark Kent and Dick Grayson both have the stamp but also both have the mocha coffee color.
