I had bought one on an "ok" card for $125 about a year ago. If I had to guess I would think around $300. I know loose they sell around what I paid for the one on the "ok" card to about $150.Comment

I'm no expert on this figure by any means, but I will chime in on what I know.
The Sewn on Sleeve is rare and hard to find, but they are not as desirable as say the Circle Suit Spiderman.
There may not even be as many sewn on sleeves as the circle suit version...but it's all about popularity and supply/demand. More demand for the circle suit makes him more valuable.
That said...a nice, sharp MOC sewn on sleeve spiderman is not something you see every day. They are rare.
I would price it in the 500-600 range now, maybe even more if you get two guys/gals in a bidding war on ebay. You would have a hard time getting a nice one for $300.
There is a really cool guy (and member here) who is selling one on ebay now for $799. To the right person, he can get that price. Someone comes in with an offer of $600-650 might get it too.
Vinny, if that is a pic of one that you picked up recently...then nice get my man!Comment

I think landlcollectables has one on sale forever for $299, loose. They are always willing to knock off 5-10 percent off asking price if your polite about it. Still too pricey for me...INEPT VINTAGE WISENHEIMER

Was it a US Card or was it a Pin Pin? Sewn On Sleeve Spidermans on cards are a little more common on Pin Pin Cards/French Cards. I've sold loose SOS Spiderman figures for $125. US Carded...My guesstimate would be in the $500 - $600 area. But I am not a carded figure person at all."When not too many people can see we're all the same
And because of all their tears,
Their eyes can't hope to see
The beauty that surrounds them
Isn't it a pity".

I also am not any kind of expert, but have purchased and sold two MOC examples of this figure over the last 3-4 years.
The first example I purchased for $300 from a fellow board member. This specimen was unique in the fact that it was on an earlier 1978 US card and was one of only a few examples known. As mentioned above, SOS Spideys are almost always found on 1979 cards, and are more easily found on 1979 French (Pin Pin) cards. I held on to it for a while and put it up for sale on eBay to fund another purchase. I believe I had it listed with a BIN of $300. I of course advertised the fact that it was a costume variation and also the fact that it is rarely seen on 1978 cards. It never budged. I ended up selling it in the market place for $265. Here is a photo:
My second SOS Spidey was purchased on eBay for $98. The seller had it listed as a MOC 1979 Spiderman, making no mention of the SOS costume variation. The card had some issues and the bubble had lifted significantly. I later sold it for somewhere around $150.
So I will echo what has already been said. It's all about finding the right buyer. While the SOS costume variant is arguably more rare than the earlier Circle Suits, it is certainly not as well known or sought after. I don't think it's impossible to for you too see $500-$600, but it will absolutely be a matter of finding the right buyer. That is a beautiful example and I wish you the best of luck.

Thanks for all the great info everyone.
I paid 325.00 for the one pictured in this post.
I think it was a good find. I also agree with Derek - it might be more rare than circle suit but way less demand.
Only the real die hards who collect variations would pay for it.
I think I got a fair deal just because the card is super clean, ir is un punched, and no stickers on it.
offered at the right and ad - i believ I can easily get 600.00 for it.
I believe there was no mention in my ad that it was the SOS Spidy - I do not recall
This time of year people are broke from vacations and summer spending.
If this piece was thrown up in late oct/early nov or feb/march I think the 600.00 can be reached.
I have no plans on re-selling it at the moment. Just to enjoy it in the collection for as long as I can."Where Does He Get Those Wonderful Toys?"Comment

I just double checked
there was no mention of it being SOS Spidy at all in the title or the ad it self.
Not sure many even know about this variation - (or care)
It just seems over the last month or so that it first came to my attention - I never heard of it prior. (or just did not pay attaention if I did)"Where Does He Get Those Wonderful Toys?"Comment

I saw one in 'Going Rate' awhile back bring $175. It seems prices are all over the place depending on card version and condition. I think I've seen more loose over the years pop up with the sewn-on detail not mentioned in the listing. That's how I got mine, I think I paid under $50 but it's been awhile.Comment
