Little help with a RM mask Robin Please

I had a question on a RM robin please. I have never scene one up close and personal - just pictures of an original.

My first question would be: Did this version of robin ever come with a green suit that did not turn yellow? I know early versions the green turned yellow-ish over time. but did he ever come with a suit that would not turn?

also I have a robin mint on card - his leg is broken in the card.
would I be adding to the value of a RM robin if i put the perfect suit on him?

I just bought one - i so know I way over paid 300.00 but it is one of the few figures I need, and lately his price seems to keep going up.
I figured this would be a good starter piece until I can find one with his mask, and with his proper yellow-ish suit.

I know i'm really only paying for the head and waffle gloves here, as I'm pretty sure this suit was off a later version.

please look at the pictures and let me know if you think I'm insaine or if i'm at least in the correct ball park for this figure
Thanks in advance for any info or help.

I never thought it was a given that RM Robins always faded from green to yellow--my is even, vivid green & appears original.

    Admittedly, I purchased it loose.
WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.

I was under the impression - that the very first RM's had a different material? which would fade over time to yellow. I was just not sure if an original ever came with the normal green suit/sleeves that stayed green.

Like how rm batman first had stir ups, but later he had feet-ies. But both were original.

So was just wondering if robin was the same, first issue lime green-yellowish and did he have also original green which stayed green.

also do you guys have any thoughts to my prior comment/question? I have a perfect robin suit still in the bubble, he just has a cracked leg and the knee pin. Would i be raising or protecting the value of the RM robin by opening up that robin and putting his perfect never touched suit on the RM robin? either way I have no original mask but this will have to do until I can upgrade him at some later point in life. Or do you guys think I should leave him as you see him in the pictures above? Funny I like to think for normal megos that I have some knowledge, but when items like these come up - I'm really clue-less and shows you I still have a lot of mego to learn

      again thanks for any help/info/thoughts

My RM Robin's green is pretty even and green, and I got it from ScottA, so I can vouch for it's authenticity.

Vinny0026,The first version green was on a striped material that faded to yellow,..then changed later on to another green material and color,..so yes,..the RM Robin was available in both green like materials.
Also,..you can complete your Robin with a repro mask on Ebay, just like the original:

              Good Luck!

the yellowish one i have does have a different texture/material to the green one i have. another thing ive noticed is that with the early figs, yellowish robins, yellow aquadudes, pinkish rc bats and purpleish supes. they all have a different pelvis with no post inside.

Yes, I was going to mention, too, that the earliest "chartreuse" Robins use knit material that has a ribbed "cordeuroy" texture.

Ben Holcomb's book details these variations.

Is your carded robin a t-2? If so the suit will not be correct anyway

yes - i figured that out just in time before ripping it open for no reason.

I do have some of the earlier suits - just not the yellow one. I'll just use which one is in the best over all condition.
Thanks again to everyone for the help and info

I have no pics but I have a vivid memory, my first Robin had yellow shorts and sleeves right out of the box. months before the first of the solid boxed WGSH made it to stores my dad had to take a job at shoppers world unloading stock. My first Batman, Robin, & Superman came home the first day they arrived to that store. I thought the yellow looked cool with the green gloves. I lost the mask and shoes and it wasn't long before I bugged him enough to get another Robin this one with green sleeves and trunks. I remember mixing the two, using the green trunks with the yellow sleeved top, I thought it was cooler like that.

I believe, like a few others, that some first run Robins and maybe Aquaman were released with the yellow, the mistake was caught and the remainder of the yellow fabric may have been dyed instead of discarded. once the dyed fabric was used up it green fabric was ordered.

I have no proof of any of this, but it's the best guess to how it seems there were perfectly yellow versions, partly yellow/fading versions and the solid greens.

I believe any of the 3 versions qualify for the removable masked Robin, the important thing about the green is is has to be the "ribbed" fabric, like the early Supes purple suits.
