    Superman w/ Stirrup Suit

Pulled this guy out of a vintage eBay lot of misc action figures and toys the other day.

He was just like you see him here. Suit is pretty nice, slightly dirty or faded, not sure which. The spot on the chest that looks like a hole is actually just a piece of the original decal. The question I have is concerning the decal. I think I'd like to put a replacement decal on him. Would this suit have originally had the large "S" decal? If so, where would I aquire a good quality replacement in the correct size? Any help is appreciated.

Photobucket is REALLY ****ing me off lately!!

I recently found a Superman with the same stirrups at the bottom of his pants. I thought this was just ripped material etc, from years of being played with. You learn something everyday.

You can go either way, your call. The earliest Superman suits definitely were stirrup suits with Large S decals and skinny boots. The suits were more purple-ish in tone/color.

Later Type 1 Supermen came with stirrup suits and regular decals with regular boots.

So...it's basically whatever you want on him. You put a small S or a large S. Either one would look fine.

Hope that helps. Nice pick-up by the way.

it looks like he might have worn a batman cowl back in the day. That's awesome!

Could you elaborate on that? I don't think I follow you?

What he means is the apparent blue marks on the face. The removable Batman cowl is a rubbery blue plastic. It would tend to rub off onto the face of the figure leaving similar marks. Looks like Superman was disguising himself as Batman at some point
              Looking for:

--Lion Rock "Mr Rock's" shoes/ boots (these may also be the same as the lion rock monster line boots)

              --Mystery Astronaught

Oh ok....gotcha. Yeah I have ran across that Batman cowl stain before:

......I don't think thats what is going on with Superman. I pulled him out of an old pile of stuff and didn't clean him up at all. He appears "as found" in these pics. I'm thinking its just some dirt on him.....he doesn't appear to have the same disease as Bruce Wayne here.
