    Shazam heads - big difference

Is there really this much difference between the head sculpts?

My last 5 or so Shazams have all had the sculpt on the right (right side when viewing pic).

    Thanks,

I think quality control was asleep at the wheel that day.
    Fresh, not from concentrate.

The first one looks like a poor casting. The stem looks like it has been chipped away to fit a body. Usual signs of a casting. Is it hard plastic(resin)?

No, it's soft just like it should be, with correct markings on the back. I assume someone cut away at the plug to make it easier to get on a body.

That looks like a cross between Shazam and Aqualad.

If it was me - I'd turn that into either an SI Billy Batson or Capt Marvel Jr.

Very strange, though I have run across some oddities on Shazam heads before. The strangest being the hair style on each side did not match and it wasn't a paint screwup.

Great ideas, unfortunately I don't do customs, I need to keep him all original. I think I'll just keep him Shazam and I'm sure someone out there will want/need the variation.

Love to see that mismatched hair one if you have a pic!

I did. Not sure if I still do. I think I ebay'd him.

If you're interested in moving Bizarro Shazam, let me know.

looks like a bad repro to me. are there markings on the neck? the only time i have seen the neck plug shaved like that is on repro heads that need trimming to fit the torso hole

Isn't the head on the left a Type 1 head and the one on the right a Type 2 head? Or maybe it was a foreign Mego or Peter Parker head?

I thought so too at first but no dice. Here is a Ledy:

Here's some more pics, I already put him on a T2 body. Maybe like someone said, it is just an early sculpt that belongs on a T1 body...

The head on the left doesn't look like a factory paintjob.I think someone did a repaint on it.

I was thinking about a repaint, too, or a knock-off?

The casting itself seems pitted/poor quality, & it doesn't have the right skin tone for a T1--that's what makes me think of a knock-off.

I think the head was repainted, the hair is almost kind of sticky, but I still feel like the head is original, just a feeling, idk...
