    Why does Isis have sandals?

I've wondered why Mego Isis has sandals. It's not accurate to the show (standard black "Uhura" boots could have been used easily & appropriately).

Why would Mego invest in expensive new tooling to produce such a fragile item, and for a "lesser" exclusive?

Were the sandals intended for another figure & repurposed?
WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.

Could the sandals have been for a Barbie doll etc, and simply used. I agree the boots would look more accurate. Would it be blasphemy to buy an Isis without sandals for a cheaper price and put on the Star Trek boots?

I don't think Mego would have appropriated Barbie items; besides, the molding is off for a Barbie foot.

Using boots would not be blasphemy I suppose, but they really need tights to look good/fit well.

Which is why I put a pair of flesh colored tights from Brian Leitner on mine, as well as a pair of repro black pirate boots from DocMego.

i'm sure "barbie" was used as a generic term for doll. not barbie but some other doll. maybe one they were going to make but didn't.

the sandals definitely look cooler and more egyptian than the live version.

was the doll (and boots) perhaps made before final costuming was finished on the live show?

            They do look awesome.

They also fit the Lion Rock/Teen Titan body.

It does seem like a no brainer for Mego to use Uhura boots if they actually knew what she looked like.I think whoever designed Isis was not completely aware of what she looked like. She was probably rushed into production. Its not the first time Mego didn't get a costume exactly right.Courtesy of the Mego Museum galleries is this pic of Isis's debut in the 1976 Montgomery Wards catalog where she is wearing no footwear.

The designer did get the costume pretty close but may have only had a picture like this that doesnt show what she is wearing on her feet.

The sandals look right for your stereotypical Egyptian Queen. If they would have known,i think they would have used Uhura boots, its too easy and is accurate to the character.

I always thought the sandals were sorta cool even though she wears boots. The best match would actually be invisible girl boots which are cut down a bit from the Uhura size.

Your right IG boots would be the best match for the TV series Isis....and booties or booty,i like them too.

Yeah, might be like the same problem Kenner had with Snaggletooth.

If you read Ben's book, I think they wee planning on Isis being a higher profile figure and actually did a dedicated sculpt of Joanna Cameron. But since using her likeness would cost more then just the licence, I guess they bumped it down a Montgomery Wards exclusive using the generic female hero head.
