    zombie effect

this question has probably been asked a hundred times and i missed out.but why do the characters such as the fantastic four get the "zombie effect" and characters such as robin, shazam or the riddler(just to name a few) dont seem to get it?

One or two (or more?) bad batches of vinyl that Mego used in the late 70's when making their heads. I've heard various theories, but I think it has something to do with a chemical reaction causing a chemical in the vinyl to "eat" the pigment used to colour the vinyl. One thing that definitely triggers the reaction is light, I've seen it happen before my eyes (over time). It happens to any figure that was made during that period that the bad vinyl was used, for example, FF figures on Pin Pin cards (on the other hand, earlier made boxed and carded FF figures are fine). I'm not sure about Riddler, but I've seen grey headed Robins and Shazams too, on later cards.

If you've got Ben's book, there's a picture of a zombie Robin on a Harbert card.
