Type 2's sometimes appear in solid boxes (but T1's in boxes are much more common) and were later available on Lion Rock cards. Kresge cards were T1 only, and I think the window boxed ones were as well.

I've heard the type 2s in solid box story over and over again.

The lion rocks have different type two bodies.

Me too, bought mine from Mark Huckabone around 20 years ago at a toy show. Actually, I remember being disappointed that it turned out being a T2, because he didn't match the T1 monsters I already had. Now, I'm glad he's a T2.

^It is important to note that, as Stabilio pointed out to me recently, while the AC text is accurate, the pix are not: The "Mego t2" Frank pic does not show the unique spread-fingered monster hand.

The LR figures have standard t2 hands cast in glow plastic, and heads cast in unique vinyl tones.

To muddy this further, the t2 Frank I bought about 15 years ago--also from Mark H.--has standard t2 glow hands but is def. Mego, at least as far as I can tell.

Evidently, there are many, many variations out there--Brian needs to write another book!

I have never personally seen/owned any t2 monsters with the unique hands.

Type 2 Monster heads are also different in the fact that the heads are "squishier" than the type 1's. The biggest problem with the T2 heads is that I've gotten a few where the eyeballs are completely missing. Talk about FREAKY. It's possible by the time the T2's were being made they started to use less denser material for their heads.

And because of all their tears,
Their eyes can't hope to see
                        The beauty that surrounds them
                        Isn't it a pity".

I never knew that, but I just checked, and yep, my T2 Frankie's head is very squishy, while my T1 monsters' heads are not. My Frankie also has unique hands, not standard T2 hands in glow plastic.
