Carded Hulks with Broken Limbs: Anyone opened one?

I've seen many of these over the years, but never bought one. In fact, I remember at one point an online store (no longer open) was selling a case of them.

On to the questions: Has anyone ever opened the card and tried to put Hulk back together? Why does this happen so often to Hulk? Are the pins permanently broken? Thanks in advance for any answers.

I've had one in my collection for about a decade. He's still sealed tight with his broken leg! I've seen a lot of people open them, put a repro pin in the leg, re-seal the bubble and re-sell. It's just a simple case of broken knee pins. It happens to loose Hulks too.

yeah i bought a whole case of the hulks. out of the case, there were probably 4 with either a broken knee or elbow pin. the pins are not repairable. i ended up buying repro pins from doc mego or swapping out body parts with naked hulks that i found at toy shows.

I remember seeing some, in that condition, sometime during the late '70s/early '80s. There was one department store that must have had like 30 of them, hanging from pegs and at least half were falling apart. There were no other WGSHs and I think they were on close out for around a dollar or so each. Might have been a Zayre.
Currently seeking - Original RM Robin mask. Plus other various WGSH parts.

I bought a couple on clearance at Child's World around 1990. Both had a broken knee (but hey, they only cost $1.99 each), and I ended up opening them up, hoping I could fix them. At that time, I didn't know that the pins would be permanently broken, and no one was selling repro pins, so there wasn't much I could do.

The lower arms and legs are heavy and that puts more stress on the pins and the little tip pops off. I'd rather have them loose in the blister than fixed and resealed.

Even as a kid in the mid 70's, I rarely saw unbroken Hulks on the store shelves.

About 10 years ago, I bought a MOC Robin on Ebay. Absolutely flawless card and bubble, but both knee pins had popped. I paid less than $25.00 for him shipped. I figured I'd open it up, replace the knee pins, and have a super minty loose Robin in my collection. To this day, I've ever been able to talk myself into opening it. The card and bubble are just too nice to tamper with.

The knees and the elbows can be fixed if you have replacement pins either from Dr. Mego or recovered from other figures.
A pin normally breaks down because the tip of the pin splits off.
If you are lucky enough to have the original tip around, you can stick it to the pin with a cianoacrylic glue and your pin reverts to its original state!

I have a carded one with every limb broken. In a strange way, it's one of my favorites....

There are enough loose ones out there it doesn't seem worth it, IMO. If you can get a bargain basement price maybe, if you're just going for display.
