    Uhura plastic head sleeve

Can anyone tell me if the original 1970s release of the 8" Mego Uhura always had a clear plastic sleeve over her head or where some figures shipped without the sleeve?
    Any info is much appreciated.

I have never seen one without the sleeve myself. I would be surprised if they shipped any without them as the hair, even left MOC gets kind of crazy over time without something to hold it down. I'm sure they wanted them to look their best while displayed in the stores. I suppose anything is possible though...

Just curious though, why do you ask? Have you found one without the sleeve?

I've seen a few on ebay lately. Do you think they have been re-carded maybe?

My uncle who is also a collector, recently picked up an Uhura. I will check he next time I am at his house, but it seems to me his did have a sleeve.

As far as the one(s) you have seen, unless it was expertly opened and then resealed, I would be more likely to bet it was just an oversight at the factory. If you pick one up, I would check the edges of the bubble as best as you can, possible with a magnifying glass just to check the seal.

It also may be possible it is from the later runs of the Star Trek figures where they were just trying to ship them out to get rid of them. Possibly similar to the "white back" cards. Just a thought.
