Fantastic 4 More black blocks Thing variant?

Back when i bought this several years ago now, I was told this was a variant. I have looked for a while and i haven't seen another. Is this a true variant or just a case of mego having suits made in different places? And any idea if it is worth more or one of those cases where it is worth what someone will pay? Any help is appreciated. Here are some side by side pics.

I've seen similar ones, I think its just a radom thing, one of mine has more than the other.I like the ones with more black bricks better
Ben Holcomb's book doesn't say one way or the other about them see page 202.

Thanks bud. I didn't see anything in the book either. That's why i was thinking it's just a case of where the suit was made. I do like how it looks with the more black as well.
It's amazing that as much as i have read Ben's book i still reference it several times a week. Quite possibly my favorite book ever. It gives Catcher in the Rye a run for it's money that's for sure.

I think that the bricks is one of those patterns that is like tie dye shirts. There is no two exactly a like.

              Hmmmm....

I bet they used to print up a huge sheet of fabric with a non-repeating pattern, and cut it however so's to get a more random look.

If that's the case, I wonder if anyone has a pic of an uncut sheet....

I'm sure you're right...the block pattern is totally random and different on every single Thing figure.

I have two Things and one has a print similar to that. But I agree with the consensus here. I think it's was all just one pattern and you got the outfit according to which cut of that fabric they were using at the time.
