I am not at all an expert. Can someone tell me about this outfit and the possible value of the bionic hand version. I have the opportunity to pick it up for $30 or $40 bucks. Should I? I just would love to know more about this!
That's the "Biosonic" version of Steve. If it's in as good condition as it looks in the photo, it's worth much more than $40...even loose. This was the last version of Steve produced by Kenner and had the shortest run of all the versions. The outfit looks to be all original and correct. Boxed, this guy commands pretty high prices.
If I ran into that, I'd snap it up in a heartbeat.
Thanks for the assist guys. I will pick him up tomorrow. I am not sure what makes the arm move, i will have to read some of that link. If he works, I will be happy.
Definitely get that! It's the Biosonic SMDM figure and he has all the right stuff on. The hand isn't the "feature" here. It's the arm itself. It has a chopping motion. And you crank it with his left arm. You can actually make it spin if you swing his arm out to the side so it's parallel with his shoulders. The only thing missing on him is his little sticker for his shirt. But this is a good find and a good price. This was the last figure made in the series. Big SMDM collectors refer to him as the fourth edition figure. So you've definitely got a keeper there.

I went and snagged him up this morning. Got him for $26.55 (10% cash discount and no tax on $29.50). Seems like I did good here.
I am definitely gonna keep him on display for a bit. he works like a champ, so I am pretty thrilled to finally have something kinda rare. Woot! (yes, I am 40 and just said "Woot!")
I just paid over $200 for my loose one... so you got a great deal. Check the hand on the bionic arm and see if it stays open (it closes by pushing the button on his forearm). And he should have a module on his upper arm... flesh color on the outside, circuit detail inside.

The hand won't stay open. So I am guessing that's not good. I can't seem to take off the flesh panel. Probably because i am a wuss and don't wanna risk ruining it. LOL
