    captain action aquaman

Ok so today I was presented with the complete aquaman captain action in a really bad repro box. My concerns are the pieces in the box are repro as well. How can I tell if it is authentic? Also what would this usually sell for in descent condition minus the ugly repro box. The box is just paper pasted on illustration board. Dont get me wrong the box is the correct size and everything but; its just paper printed out of a home computer. Does anyone make a quality repro box? Or anyone have the template with demesions? thanks again!

new member sorry for the dumb questions.

I know that Anthony (forum member "The Toy Room") used to make them. The man is very talented. Send him a PM.

thanks! does anyone know how to tell if this is real or a repro as far as the costume and the head go. It has the fins the conch shell the belt its has everything. Is there a chance this could be a full repro? What is a far price for the whole set in a repro box? I wanna buy but its a lot of money and just wanna make sure its worth that much and its real.

I haven't seen repros for CA Aquaman...doesn't mean that they don't exist. The best way to tell is that a LOT of the Captain Action accessories tend to have melt marks somewhere on them. Very hard to complete Captain Action figures without having at least one melt mark on an accessory. The Phantom Guns as well as the Captain America gun and Lone Ranger guns tend to literally melt into the holsters. Instead of being rounded they end up flat. I'd check the Aquaman knife for a melt mark...as well as the trident. Make sure the trident is height of the figure...or close to it. Other than that my personal opinion is if it is complete and all original, with an ORIGINAL Captain Action figure underneath it, depending on condition...anywhere from $150 - $200 loose.

...if items are not shiny, and small bubble holes in them...theyre repro,...if shiny, flippers, and conch is rubbery,..theyre originals. Mask must not be shiny and a bit harder than the conch. Box can be easily reproed....what is the asking price,..so I can tell you if its worth it.

Sounds like you have a box made by He Who Should Not Be Named. The guy really is a piece of...

There used to be a website that sold repro Captain action accessories and some repro matt mason stuff. Honestly the quality was high, but the prices weren't a whole lot less than an original. Found it. toyreplicas.com looks like they dont do captain action anymore. As`an example of their prices, they are selling reproduction timpo captain scarlet figures for $45, here is an ebay listing were one sold for $38 CAPTAIN SCARLET LIEUTENANT GREEN TIMPO GERRY ANDERSON | eBay

Talk to Wes and see if he, or anybody he knows, is doing Aquaman repops.

I've seen reproduction tridents that look almost identical to the original except it was cast in two parts. I don't believe any of the other parts have been reproduced. I think they are too common to be worth anyone's time. I've seen complete outfits sell for as low as $100 and as high as $200. I've seen the trident by itself sell for as much as $100. Its always the part that's missing, broken, or badly melted.
