Variant Green Arrow, any idea what he is worth?

Hey guys, I need some help from you mego experts. I have this GA that i have even tried selling here. When i bought him several years back i was told he was a rare variant. So even though his hat, bow and quiver were repro i bought it. Well i scored a real nice boxed GA so i have offered it up again. Well i received no offers so i put it on ebay. I have received a few emails from people telling me this figure is super rare and i should be starting my auction at no less than $100 bucks.
He is almost mint. He has the usual head rubs from his hat but very minor. The body is super tight and the suit is crisp and clean. The boots are almost perfect as well. I will never say anything loose is perfect but this figure comes close. So are these awesome ebay members who emailed me correct, and what is it worth? Any help from you awesome members would be a help.
    Mark

What is it about this figure that makes him a variant? Just curious.

It's the yellow vest. Most were green and this one is yellow.

Yea, it's the yellow vest variation. How "rare" it is is beyond my knowledge. It's not mentioned in the galleries so I would say it's worth whatever someone wants to pay you for it.

I didn't realize that was a manufactured variant. I've had several of those over the years, but most weren't evenly yellow. I always thought that they had faded or been sun-bleached.

Now that I look at them together and I can see that the legs on the "Yellow Vest" version are darker green than the one to the left, I guess it wouldn't have been faded. Now I wish I had all of the GA suits that have passed through my hands over the years so that I could compare them.

I thought this was a fade to yellow too the dark green threading made me believe this - since it does not make sense to not match the yellow vest.

So there is a manufactured yellow variant??

Hmmm. yeah. I always thought it was a fading issue. Damn. I should have bought it from you when you offered it Mark. Best of luck with your auction.

Thanks guys, i think that answers why it never sold. For the record it is as minty as a loose figure can be with no fading at all.

Hey Scott i have another question. The part right below his chin seems to be darker as well, same color as his legs. Also it looks to be close to the dark green vest color on the second one in the picture. I have never seen this combo before mine. I have looked it over again and it's not faded anywhere. It's really like it was just opened. He says 1974 on his head and back. Any thoughts on this?

the variations come from the different materials mego used back in the early 70's... like any company procuring materials for production, there is often times some inconsistencies in quality, color, etc...and this was the 70's we are talking about, it was not an exact "science" and I am sure QC was not as tight as it could have been...so, while relatively uncommon color, there are many other shade variations that are out there due to a myriad of reasons (fading, material quality control, etc)...
