    Removing mold + Box Repair

    Hi guys,

This may have been covered before in another thread and if it has, maybe someone can point me in the right direction.

I just won one of GrannyJo's auctions. I won the boxed Aquaman. In the descriptions of their auctions, it did make refrence to the fact that some of the items sustained water damage. The box that the Aquaman came in does have some significant crunch to it in spots and I noticed what looks like mold inside the box. This may be a dumb question but where I suspect mold, do I just wipe that off with a damp cloth/rag?

Also, if anyone has any suggestions or easy ways to try and reshape the box, I am open to suggestions.

Also, there is a spot of mold on Aquaman's costume...any suggestions for removing that?

This thread isnt intended to bash GrannyJo's auctions...I feel I got what I bid on and am not disappointed and intend to leave positive feedback...just thought I would check here and see if anyone has any good idea's to go about trying to repair the box and figure.

20 million 5 micron mold spores will fit on a postage stamp!

Wipe it of with a damp cloth, dispose of the cloth and wipe the box dry. Mold needs 2 things to grow. Moisture and an organic food source. If both are not present it won't regrow. Its impossible to totally get rid of. Chlorox does no good as its 95% water and you are just feeding the mold what it needs to grow!

If the figure has mold wash with soap and water and dry completely. Wash and dry the clothes.
Too many toys. Not enough space!

Reshaping the box might be easy if you get the inside dimensions of the opening of the box. Then get yourself a 2 X 4 and cut a piece that fits the entire length of the box. Should help to reshape the box somewhat...but you may have to let the piece stay in their for a while. Maybe a month. I used to build my old boxes up with putting bubble wrap inside till the inside is filled and tight and put a light weight on top of the box...but I think the 2 x 4 idea may be better.
