Type 1 and Type 2 body timeline

I am sure this is here somewhere but I have not found the thread yet. Can someone please explain the production life of the type 1 and type 2 bodies. I know that most figures were produced on both. Also, was there ever a type 1 female body? Most I have seen tend to be type 2. For example was there ever a type 1 Zira made?

Thanks in adavce for any insight you can provide.

    Cheers,
    Jason

If by "Type 1" you mean metal joints, then no, none of the females were ever released with metal pins in the joints. All came with plastic pins at the points of articulation. There were 2 distinct body types for the females, though; late-run figures came with less articulated, "straight-armed bodies with no joints at the elbows or wrists.

Thanks for the information. Yes, I was talking about the metal joints versus the plastic. When was the switch? 1975, 76? Or did they co-exist for a time...

I believe the new "T2" bodies debuted in 1975. For a time, I think you could find either T1s or T2s in stores until Mego depleted their stock of the older T1 bodies. I recall getting several of the new Marvel figures for Christmas that year (1975), and they were a mix of body types. My Green Goblin and Falcon were T1s, and my Iron Man was T2 (the Hulk, of course, was on a third body type, the "muscle body"). And I'm sure my parents picked them all up at the same time, in the same store. I never owned the Lizard as a kid, but he was also available as a T1 or T2.
As a kid, I much preferred the look of the T2s, and must admit they were much more posable. Today, however, I like the clunky, imperfect look of the T1s more!

the very first time i saw type 2 bodies was nov of 1974,i had gotten the first 5 star trek figures, and they had light blue plastic shorts,i know they had type 1 trek figures, but i first saw them that way, then in early 75,i saw that the apes and superheros were also being switched over, with the apes at the time,at the store around here then, you could get them either way.

about the gals, there was one tiny change in the female body, before they did the daisy arms.at the wrist,on dinah and early super gals they had a diamond pin hole, later they were all normal round
