    Mego Mad Monster Hands

How easy/hard is it to replace hands on T1 monster figures? Does the hand just slip off the metal joint or do you have to restring it to replace the hand and joint?

the wrist pin can be pulled out of the forearm. BUT, the plastic around the metal joint is oftentimes very brittle and can break easily. It is also pretty easy to damage the pin that holds the hand on.

I would suggest replacing the entire arm and restringing.

I've found it easier to replace t1 hands than t2s--the peg is larger.

I dip them in very hot water for 30-45 seconds (immerse to the elbow), then remove & dry. Working quickly, cover your hand with a tea-towel for traction, grasp the hand at the wrist-rivet (on the sides) & pop the hand out.

While the forearm is still warm, you can easily pop in another hand.

I've never had one break, but Rche is correct, the molding can be thin & sometimes brittle.

I was able to replace a hand on a T1 by way of wrist pin removal after soaking it in hot water for 30 seconds or so. Apply steady pressure with a back and forth twisting motion while pulling until eventually it starts to break free. (Don't you just hate when you have to type things like this to make your point ). Anyhow, pay attention where you grab to pull though, as mentioned above, the wrist can be fragile. I didn't want to restring as this was my Soldier Ape from when i was a kid and i wanted to keep it in as original condition as possible. So i'd say it can be done pretty easily, just use caution...... and don't be too bummed if it breaks. Practice on the broken one first .
