Star Trek 8" Gorn Question

So I posted this earlier in the wrong spot...

Aside from the redesign on the new 8" Gorn figure, I've noticed that in some of the pictures where it is being offered with the Sulu figure, the clothes seem to be made of a different, leather type of material as opposed to the Gorn offered by himself where he's wearing shiny clothing. Is there a variation or am I looking at a preproduction photo? Also if it is a variation, are there other differences between the two figures....

It sounds like you are looking at the prototype figure that was used for preproduction photos and packaging.
